Commentary:
Just trying to capture some of the special feel of Christmas - trimming the tree, reading by the fire, etc.
TECHNICAL NOTES:
Shot with Nikon 8008s in the manual mode using available light with SB-24 flash to the ceiling - also used a small reflector card on that flash. Shot a separate series of just the window area with the camera set to aperture priority metering.
Used Kodak Ektapress Multispeed PJM film rate at ISO 640 Scaned on Photo CD workstation with scene balance off. Also scanned the separate series shot of the window area custom adjusting these four frames.
Stitched three versions of the scene:
- exposure for the main scene (scanned with Scene Balance off),
- exposure for the draperies and window area - custom scans from separate frames,
- exposure for the view out the window - custom scans from separate frames (used the same frames scanned for the draperies & window, but scanned them a second time optimizing the view out the window).
Used PhotoShop to cut and paste the separate window elements into the main scene.
